Our monthly roundup is here
Don’t miss a beat with Chit Chats’ monthly summary including improvements, new features and any bug fixes for November.
New Features & Updates
Postal Code Improvements
- We’ve updated how postal codes work to better support countries with different formats.
- Shipments to Hong Kong will automatically use the postal code 999077, and Macau will use 999999 when manually creating shipments.
- You’ll now see an error message if a postal code has fewer than 3 characters or more than 10.
Order Reference on Label
- You can now choose to display your sales channel and order number directly on your postage labels. Simply update your preferences on the Printing page in your Chit Chats settings. Learn more in our support article.

Updated Region Groupings
- To better support Chit Chats SmartDrop clients in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, the Ontario and Alberta regions have been renamed for clients as:
- Ontario & Manitoba
- Alberta & Saskatchewan
- Clients in:
- Saskatchewan should select Alberta for accurate postage
- Manitoba should select Ontario
- Reminder: We do not have any physical locations in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
- Note: Manitoba and Saskatchewan will still appear together on the Locations page.
Customs Reference Number Field
- We’ve clarified the Customs Reference Number section when creating shipments manually. The field now clearly indicates that this information must be entered on the platform (not written on the package) to ensure it’s properly transmitted to our partner carrier.

Location and Branch Updates
- Alberta:
- Our partner for the Dragonfly Edmonton Drop Spot has changed addresses. The new address is now 17505 129 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5V 0B4.

Service Updates
Chinese-Origin Products Shipped to the U.S.
- The U.S. administration has lowered the previous 20% Fentanyl Tariff to 10%. However, the Universal Reciprocal Tariff still applies, meaning these products continue to have a combined tariff of 20%.
Manufacturer Information
- You may now enter a Country of Origin that differs from the Country of Manufacture, but only in two specific cases:
- If you can provide proof that your wholesaler did not supply manufacturer information, you may use the wholesaler’s details as the manufacturer.
- For non-textile items, you may use your Canadian address as the manufacturer’s information.
- In all cases, the true Country of Origin must still be declared accurately.
- If you import products using CSV files, note that we’ve added a new column to our template: country_of_manufacturer, to be used when the Country of Origin and Country of Manufacture differ.

Gifts to the U.S.
- With the holiday shipping season approaching, please be aware that gifts sent to the U.S. are currently not exempt from tariffs due to our current method of entry. We are actively exploring other options.
- Visit our support article for details.
Domestic Returns
- Purolator is now available as an option for domestic returns. Learn about the process.

Bug Fixes
- Resolved: Clients using the previous eBay Country List on the website were experiencing difficulties importing orders onto the Chit Chats platform.
- Resolved: Shipments containing products with a Country of Origin listed as Macau were not receiving the Chit Chats International Tracked option.
- Resolved: A bug prevented clients who purchased shipments and requested a refund from receiving the additional fees (e.g., line-item and brokerage fees). All affected clients have now been refunded.
- Resolved: Importing errors related to manufacturer details and Shopify have been corrected.
- Resolved: The platform was not accepting HTS codes under the S+ category for CUSMA approval.
