Upcoming Changes to Chit Chats International Tracked

Big changes are coming to our affordable, fast, and fully tracked international shipping option starting March 26! Read on for all the details.

Update: March 28, 2025

As of 9 PM EST on March 26, Chit Chats International Tracked has officially transitioned to our new partner carrier. While most technical issues following the change have been resolved, we are aware of a few remaining bugs and are actively working on fixes.

If you have purchased Chit Chats International Tracked postage with our previous carrier, please refund and repurchase the label.

Outstanding Issues (Expected Resolution by End of Day):

  • If you encounter the error “Piece: Total Goods Value’ must be greater than ‘0”, your individual item value may be too low and the carrier may have rounded the value down to 0. Please update the item value to $1 and re-attempt postage purchase.

Resolved Issues:

  • Chit Chats Insurance is now compatible with Chit Chats International Tracked once again.
  • International Tracked postage labels printed from thermal printers will now print correctly.
  • Previously, rates for unserviced destinations appeared as $9,999—this has been corrected. No rates will now be seen for these destinations.
  • HS codes with decimals (e.g., 1111.34) will no longer prevent postage purchases.
  • All inconsistencies in pricing between our previous and new carrier have been fixed.
  • The CN22 form on labels will no longer display incorrect values.

If you encounter any errors, please duplicate and purchase the label before reporting it as the issue may have already been resolved.

We appreciate your patience as we navigate these unexpected border-related changes to ensure continued international shipping options.

Important:

The below changes apply only to international shipments. U.S.-bound shipments will continue to be processed as usual, and there will be no changes to USPS services to the U.S.

Starting March 27, Chit Chats International Tracked shipments will no longer be able to transit through the U.S. for processing. Instead, the service will now use a new partner carrier and shipments will be routed directly from Canada before continuing to their final destinations. This change comes in response to recent updates to U.S. border policies and will help improve transit times, particularly for European destinations.

Due to this new U.S. border policy, USPS International postage types will be discontinued starting today, March 26. This includes:

  • USPS First Class Mail International
  • USPS First Class Package International
  • USPS Priority Mail International
  • USPS Priority Express Mail International

Important: If you have already purchased USPS International postage but have not yet dropped off your shipments at a Chit Chats location, please request a refund as soon as possible. Please note that refunds take up to 21 business days to be processed by USPS.

USPS First Class Mail International and untracked USPS Priority Mail International postage are not eligible for refunds through our platform; however, refunds will be done due to the exceptional circumstance. Please contact your local branch or our client support team for assistance.

In addition, Chit Chats U.S. Select and U.S. Edge will no longer support U.S. military addresses and U.S. territories. You must instead use our Tracked Packet USA service for these destinations.

If you have a Chit Chats U.S. Select or U.S. Edge shipment to one of those locations, please refund the postage and create a Tracked Packet USA label.

What does this mean for you?

Beginning today, March 26, here’s what you can expect:

  • The available international destinations serviced by Chit Chats will be temporarily limited to countries covered by Chit Chats International Tracked. We are currently exploring to expand this list once again with our new partner.
  • Chit Chats International Tracked will transition to PostNL. Shipments will no longer be processed by our previous carrier.
  • HS codes are now required for all international shipments. Unlike HTS codes, which apply only to shipments destined for the U.S., HS codes are used globally to classify the contents of your package. These numerical codes can be 6, 8, 10, or 12 digits, depending on the destination country.
  • If you have shipments with the previous carrier, they must be relabeled starting March 26 once the change takes effect later in the day. Please refund the old label and purchase a new Chit Chats International Tracked label. Labels with the previous carrier will display a code in the format C#AA (where # represents your region).
    • Note: Any international shipments received from the previous carrier will be held at a Chit Chats facility until a new label has been created.
  • While our new partner, PostNL, does not offer a dedicated DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) service, if a valid IOSS number or tax reference number is provided, the recipient will not be charged duties and customs upon delivery.
  • Updated Weight & Size Limits:
    • Maximum weight: 20 kg
    • Maximum dimensions: L + W + H must be less than 300 cm, with the longest side not exceeding 150 cm
  • Rates will remain similar, but some destinations may see slight increases or decreases.
  • Some shipments—especially to Europe—will benefit from improved delivery times.
  • No Changes to Other Features:
    • Available country list remains the same
    • Prohibited items (same as current)
    • Returns not supported (same returns policy as before)
    • Fully tracked service
    • Chit Chats insurance remains available (carrier insurance is not provided)

What are HS codes and How to find them?

Harmonized System (HS) Codes are important because customs uses this as a reference to identify the goods in your package. The Harmonized System is a standardized numerical method of classifying traded products for customs processing. This allows shipments to move smoothly through the network and help decrease the risk of fraud and security threats.

Tools to find HS codes:

HS Code Format

  • minimum 6 digits for each item in your shipment
  • additional digits depend on destination of the shipment
  • Ex: 6603.20

We understand this is a big transition, and we apologize for the short notice—U.S. border policies have been changing unpredictably with the new U.S. administration. We appreciate your patience as we work to enhance Chit Chats International Tracked.
