We appreciate your patience and will continue to keep you informed every step of the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Update June 11, 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beginning July 8, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) will require electronic submission of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpsc.gov\/Business--Manufacturing\/Testing-Certification\/General-Certificate-of-Conformity\">Certificate of Conformity<\/a> information for applicable products entering the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This change introduces a new reporting requirement for certain consumer products and may affect some U.S.-bound shipments sent through Chit Chats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Is Changing?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CPSC is the U.S. agency responsible for enforcing consumer product safety regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While many regulated products have long been required to comply with CPSC safety standards, proof of compliance was often only requested when needed. Starting July 8, 2026, certificate information for applicable products must be submitted electronically at the time of import.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without the required compliance information, affected shipments may face customs delays, additional reviews, or refusal of entry into the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Which Products May Be Affected?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At this time, the CPSC has not published a <strong>full <\/strong>comprehensive list of all products that will require electronic certificate filing. However, they have released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpsc.gov\/s3fs-public\/CPSC-Guidance-and-HTS-List-for-Filing-of-Electronic-Certificates-6B-Cleared.pdf\">sample list of codes<\/a> that will be affected.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based on currently available information, products commonly associated with these requirements include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Toys<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Imitation jewelry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certain clothing and textile products<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rest may be the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Helmets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Household goods<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consumer electronics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other regulated consumer products<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Please note that product eligibility is determined by specific safety regulations and HTS classifications. Not every item within these categories will necessarily be subject to the new filing requirements.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How Will Compliance Information Be Submitted?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The required data will be transmitted through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), the electronic customs platform used by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Further guidance on data requirements will be provided as we approach the effective date.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Prepare<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you sell products that fall within regulated consumer product categories, now is a good time to review your product catalog and determine whether any of your items may require a Certificate of Conformity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also recommend reviewing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpsc.gov\/s3fs-public\/CPSC-Guidance-and-HTS-List-for-Filing-of-Electronic-Certificates-6B-Cleared.pdf\">CPSC&#8217;s HTS sample code guidance<\/a> to identify products that may be affected by these requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Are We Doing?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We know that this comes as a big change for some. However, don\u2019t worry as our team is working internally and with our customs broker to determine how compliance information can be integrated while minimizing disruption to your shipping workflow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We will continue to provide updates as details are finalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Update June 4, 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">International Emergency Economics Powers Act (IEEPA) Refunds<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As shared earlier this year, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that the reciprocal tariffs imposed by the U.S. administration under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) are unlawful. As a result, refunds are being issued for eligible imports that entered the United States under this tariff category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beginning April 20, refund processing has started for select entry categories as part of Phase 1. Refunds will continue to roll out in phases, with additional categories included at each stage. As a result, Chit Chats is unable to accommodate any products containing shipments originating from affected countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At this time, this includes products with a Country of Origin of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cuba<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Palestine<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Venezuela<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Iraq<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Myanmar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>C\u00f4te d&#8217;Ivoire<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>North Korea<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Iran<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>*Please note that this list is subject to change based on evolving political circumstances and future U.S. policies.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Any shipments containing products from the above origins are not eligible for any U.S. postage through Chit Chats.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Important Reminders<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No manufacturer info? If we enable acceptance of Amazon FBA shipments we will update here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"color:#32373c;background-color:#00d1b2\" class=\"wp-block-genesis-blocks-gb-notice gb-font-size-18 gb-block-notice\" data-id=\"f55fd9\"><div class=\"gb-notice-title\" style=\"color:#fff\"><p>CUSMA<\/p><\/div><div class=\"gb-notice-text\" style=\"border-color:#00d1b2\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Submit for approval and duty-free treatment if the <strong>country of origin is Canada, U.S., or Mexico<\/strong> and you meet CUSMA requirements (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradecommissioner.gc.ca\/en\/market-industry-info\/search-country-region\/country\/canada-united-states-export\/us-tariffs\/understanding-cusma-compliance.html#understanding\">Rules of Origin are met<\/a>). If the HTS code indicates the S\/S+ indicator or it shows Free in the General Duty column on the offical US site. Be sure to check that your HTS code is valid (<a href=\"https:\/\/hts.usitc.gov\/\">appears on the US site<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Simply provide the country of origin, product description and 10 digit HTS code for approval<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once approved to see duty-free enter the same COO and HTS  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you had previously created SKUs that were approved be sure to enter the HTS and COO that was approved to continue seeing duty-free<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/chitchats.com\/blog\/understanding-cusma-certification-with-chit-chats\">Learn more<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>Incorrect or missing information<\/strong> &#8211; click to learn more<\/summary>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Common reasons for delays result from incorrect, vague or missing information &#8211; we&#8217;ve made adjustments to catch any missing information at time of postage creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">U.S. Customs Border and Protection has implemented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/trade\/basic-import-export\/e-commerce\/examples-unacceptable-vs-acceptable-cargo-descriptions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">automated enforcement of package descriptions<\/a>. This means you must ensure that all shipment descriptions are detailed. For example t-shirt is not acceptable but rather men&#8217;s cotton t-shirt. If your shipment does not have detailed descriptions this will cause your package to be rejected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What You Can Do<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\ud83d\udc49 Ensure you provide a valid 10 digit HTS code<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\ud83d\udc49 Provide accurate and detailed shipment descriptions. <a href=\"https:\/\/chitchats.com\/blog\/compliance-detailed-shipment-descriptions\">Find examples in our previous blog<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\ud83d\udc49 Ensure manufacturer information is valid and matches the country of origin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I.e. For existing shipments, refresh rates to view updated tariff treatment. We understand that many sellers prefer to have duties collected at the time of delivery from the recipient and our team is exploring if we can provide a solution. There is no timeline if and when a DDU solution will be available but we will update all clients if this changes. <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>For Chit Chats Edge and Chit Chats Select &#8211; is this a postal or non-postal service?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to our method of entry into the US, both Chit Chats U.S. Edge and U.S. Select are non-postal services. Other postages partnered with Canada Post and PostNL follow under postal services. You will not be required to pay the $200 ad valorem fee, however you will be expected to pay a tariff fee based on the item(s) declared.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>If I ship with USPS Media Mail will this still be available?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">USPS Media Mail is available through our DDP (duties paid) option. The country of origin, valid HTS code, and manufacturer information must be declared in order to obtain rates.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Will I need to provide a manufacturer address for books when I don\u2019t have it?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To access DDP (duties paid) postage options you are required to provide manufacturer information.
