This makes sure that there are no delays or even worse refused or returned packages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Country of Origin (COO)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Country of Origin refers to where a product was manufactured or produced. This designation is essential for determining whether duties or taxes apply when the item is imported, as well as the applicable rate. Different countries have varying duty rates\u2014some may be higher, while others may not have any. As of February 2025, shipping regulations require all shipments crossing the border to include the Country of Origin (COO) for each product. This requirement applies to all shipments destined for the U.S. and other international locations. Additionally, other regions, like Brazil, have similar requirements, where a CPF or CNPJ number is necessary. It is your responsibility to know whether or not your country of destination requires a tax reference number. Here are a few examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) was created as an optional program to facilitate and simplify the declaration and payment of the value added tax (VAT) for goods sold from a distance by sellers from either the European Union (EU) or from a non- EU country or territory. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Value Added Tax Identification Number (VAT)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A Value Added Tax Identification Number or VAT Identification Number (VATIN) is an identifier used in many countries for value added tax purposes. Each country has a slightly different format for their VAT number system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">VAT on E-Commerce (VOEC)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The VAT system for Norway. Similarly to the IOSS, it is used to declare the payment of the value added tax for goods sold from outside of Norway.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have an IOSS, VOEC, or VAT number simply provide this in the customs tax reference number field when creating your shipment. Reference numbers must follow the correct formatting. This ensures that the information is passed onto our partner carriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maximum of 20 characters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cannot content any special characters (i.e. -, !, #)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not necessary to include the words \u2018IOSS\u2019 &#8216;VOEC&#8217; or \u2018VAT\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The IOSS VAT Identification Number contains a total of twelve (12) alphanumeric characters in the following format of IMxxxyyyyyyz (reference <a href=\"https:\/\/faq.usps.com\/s\/article\/Import-One-Stop-Shop-IOSS#IOSS_VAT_Identification_Number\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">USPS IOSS FAQ<\/a>). On the other hand, VOEC numbers are 7 digit reference numbers.
